About Calibration cost

Why this site exists
We read 35 providers' own pages on 28 October 2026 and only 6 of them print a figure, so the only way to see the spread is to read all of them and show the working. That is what this site is: one table, every source named, dated.
Who it is for
Engineers, quality managers and business owners in the UK who have instruments, gauges or scales to calibrate and want to see what labs publish before they ask for a quote.
What is on this site
One question, "calibration cost", answered with a quote form that works on the page with no account, 5 guides on the questions around it, a data table you can cite (the figures and their method), and the sources every figure rests on.
- Who publishes a price, and who makes you ask: 6 of 35 providers read for calibration cost publish a figure. These are the ones that do not.
- Calibration services price list: UK labs' own published prices: Every calibration price UK labs print on their own pages, by instrument: 70 figures from 6 labs, each with its source, read 28 October 2026.
- Instrument calibration cost: the median by instrument type: What calibrating an instrument costs in the UK, by type: the median published price where two or more labs print one. Median across all 70 figures: £48.
- Trading standards calibration fees: what councils publish: The calibration and verification charges UK trading standards services publish for weights, scales and measuring equipment, each from the council's own page.
- Is calibration a legal requirement in the UK?: When UK law requires equipment to be checked: weighing equipment used for trade, extraction (LEV) under COSHH, and work equipment under PUWER, each cited to its source.
What it does not do
- No ranking, no best-of list and no scores: the table is sorted by the figure, not by us.
- No paid placement, no affiliate links and no sponsored rows.
- No invented figure: a provider that publishes nothing is listed as publishing nothing.

This is a free information site run by Joseph Ellul. When you send an enquiry, Joseph Ellul reads it and replies to you directly; it is not passed to any firm, and you pay nothing to ask. The site carries no advertising, no sponsored placement and no affiliate links, and no firm in a table has paid to be there or can pay to be removed. Every figure is read from the named firm's or authority's own public page on the date shown and is what that page advertises, not a quote for your job. Nothing here is legal or technical advice; prices move, so check the source before you rely on a row.
